Today's matches defined the players of tomorrow's final matches.

Tomorrow the Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky will face Horacio Zeballos of Argentina to fight for the main trophy of the tournament.

The Ukrainian qualifier overplayed today Marat Safin in a tough semifinal match in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. For the latter that was his career last match in front of the Russian audience.

Nevertheless Marat's advance to the semifinals means that he has become the most successful participant of St. Petersburg Open throughout its 15-year-history (Singles Ranking-Z) surpassing by 5 points the retired Swedish Thomas Johansson.

In the second semifinal the eighth-seeded Horacio Zeballos knocked out of the tournament another Russian Igor Kunitsyn in a two-set match 7-6(7), 6-3. Igor's defeat may be explained by his physical exhaustion after yesterday's match against Victor Hanescu that ended by midnight.

In the doubles final match the French pair Jeremy Chardy/Richard Gasquet will face tomorrow the British Colin Fleming/Ken Skupski who managed to break down the resistance of Jonathan Erlich/Andy Ram (Israel) 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.

The two finals will be held tomorrow on Sunday. The doubles final will be played at 2 p.m. And the singles final will take place not before 4 p.m.
